Asus Vivotab Smart ME400c 10.1and Tablet Review
In our Top 5 Budget 10-inch Tablets 2014 we looked at Asus Vivotab Smart ME400 10″. It is the only Window 8 tablet among other Android tablets. So, we have decided to revisit the VivoTab and do a bit more digging.

The Good

- Slow processor (low powered Atom processor) so can be laggy at times
- Low resolution screen

- Optional keyboard a bit flimsy
- Origami fold covers takes a little figuring out

I would like to say that I am very pleased with the device and the quality of its build for the money… the power is more than adequate, O.K. it is no Quad Core, High End Graphics Bests, but it’s a tablet, I didn’t buy it to play XBOX or Playstation games, and I have a PC that would do any seriously high definition photo editing that I require with a bigger screen… This is a great tablet for everyday, common use and won’t leave you feeling robbed for buying a device…
I had this device for over a year and still very satisfied. It runs MS Office smoothly, Internet experience is trouble free, touch screen is higly responsive, camera is ok… all in all, it is a well made work tool… To sum up: very satisfied, I would buy it again, highly recommended product.
I needed a tablet that runs full Windows 8 and allows macros in Excel. This is the tablet to use, it has synced with my laptop and has sky drive for storage which saves you the worry of running out of space. A good tablet to use on the go when a laptop is just too big and heavy. I did research this compared with other brands and for the money and power this was my choice. I’ve had it for a few weeks and so far nothing to let it down.
Incredible value for money, you are getting full Windows 8 in a tablet that can do everything a normal user can do on a computer or a laptop. Office applications, media playback (video streaming) and browsing the web is seamless. Even whilst watching a Netflix movie and typing a document you can never experience any lag. The battery life on this is amazing (8-9 hours on a full charge)… the build quality is very good, feels strong and sturdy. The screen is very responsive, allowing you to glide thru applications with your fingertips barely touching…

Should You Get It
If you are using this purely as a tablet (and occasionally a laptop replacement) to browse the internet, check emails, use metro apps and even some light weight desktop apps and Office apps or as a remote desktop client (RDP) to connect to another machine or server, then this is the tablet for you.
With the optional keyboard (and mouse) you might be able to get away with this as a productivity tablet, working on MS Office suite (sold separately with a Trial version pre-installed). But, the low powered Atom processor meant that it will struggle running processor and memory intensive apps such as Photoshop. Then again, who would be doing that on a tablet?
If you are tired of running only tablet based apps (from Windows 8 store) and wish you can run your existing favourite desktop apps on a tablet then you will love the Vivotab. At its current price point and offer, this all round, multi-purpose Windows tablet will suit lots of people. Remember, the trade off for the price here is power.
